SHRM enters into cooperative agreement with telework group - Society for Human Resource Management with the International Telework Association and Council
HR Magazine, Feb, 2003
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is pleased to announce it has entered into a cooperative agreement with the International Telework Association and Council (ITAC), which will offer discounted membership fees and conference registrations to members of both associations.
Founded in 1993, ITAC is a nonprofit organization based in Wakefield, Mass., dedicated to advancing the growth and success of work, independent of location. ITAC sponsors Telework America, a public-private partnership project focused on advancing the nation's knowledge and understanding of telecommuting, and other research. It also holds education events, distributes publications, disseminates information about telework, and assists businesses and the public to optimize the advantages of working remotely.
"This partnership will broaden both associations' mutual resources, increase our membership bases and will mutually enhance the value of both associations," commented Tim Kane, ITAC president and president of Kinetic Workplace.
According to Keith Greene, SPHR, SHRM's director of organizational programs, "This relationship grants both associations the opportunity to serve the HR professional as well as to educate and promote the benefits of telework to both employers and employees."
Under the terms of the new agreement, SHRM members are entitled to:
* A first-year discount on the ITAC user membership fee for all SHRM members whose primary interest in telework is as a user. (Note: ITAC memberships are corporate, while SHRM memberships are individual.)
* Discounted registration fees to attend the ITAC Annual Conference.
* Discounted pricing from the nonmember rate for ITAC telework reports.
ITAC member companies are entitled to:
* Discounted first-year SHRM memberships for employees from ITAC member companies.
* Discounted registration fees to attend the SHRM Annual Conference.

SHRM members interested in taking advantage of any of the opportunities listed above should contact Lynsey Chaplik at lchaplik@workingfromanywhere.org or (781) 876-6251.
