The Business Literacy for HR Professionals Series

HR Magazine, August, 2005 by Leigh Rivenbark

The following three books are the inaugural volumes in the "Business Literacy for HR Professionals Series" from the Society for Human Resource Management and the Harvard Business School Press.

The series is designed to help educate human resource professionals at all levels in business management practices that can make HR a strategic partner in an organization.

The first three titles planned for the series are The Essentials of Finance and Budgeting, The Essentials of Negotiation and The Essentials of Managing Change and Transition.

All three books share the same structure: They offer basic information in brief chapters, with self-assessment tests, checklists and other simple tools to help readers find out how the information applies to them.

Each chapter opens with a summary of what readers will learn and closes with a quick recap of the main points. Each chapter also poses questions to help readers start applying lessons to their own organizations immediately.
