Health Industry Today, Nov, 1999

Mallinckrodt Inc., St. Louis, has announced that oximetry module shipments for its original equipment manufacturers (OEM) business topped 50,000 units for the first time in the company's history during the fiscal year ended June 30, 1999. The company said that in 1992 it was shipping just 6,000 units annually. By reaching the 50,000 plateau the company has recorded a compound annual growth rate of 30%. Mallinckrodt's MP304 OEM module offers customers access to patented Nellcor Oxismarta Advanced Signal Processing and Alarm Management Technology. The newly released MP404 utilizes adaptive filtering to find true physiological signals during periods of patient motion. The company also announced that its Oxismart Advanced Digital Signal Process and SatSeconds[ordinal indicator, feminine] Revolutionary Alarm Management technology has received regulatory clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company says the new technology is the next generation in pulse oximetry because it addresses the challenge of finding and tracking pulse rate and oxygen saturation levels, particularly in the presence of motion.
