Lumisys introduces iLuminator for desktop electronic imaging - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Health Industry Today, Nov, 1999

Lumisys, Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., has introduced its iLuminator, a self-contained imaging device that enables filmless imaging in medical offices, remote clinics and radiotherapy departments. Based on the ACR-2000 DesktopCR[ordinal indicator, feminine] system, the iLuminator integrates image acquisition, diagnostic display, telecommunications and archiving capabilities into one device. It can be used in private radiology, orthopedic and surgical practices, small clinics, intensive care units, emergency rooms and radiation therapy centers. With a list price of less than $75,000, the company says, the iLuminator makes full electronic imaging available at a fraction of the cost of large PACS installations and makes filmless imaging possible with a single appliance. Lumisys says the device integrates x-ray acquisition, a high-resolution gray-scale display, and complete DICOM archiving capabilities on a rolling cart. The iLuminator also supports Internet telecommunications, WAN and LAN networks, enables the integration of x-ray into teleradiology and image distribution systems, and supports DICOM printers, PostScript Windows printers, and non-DICOM printers.
