Dade Behring, Deerfield, Ill., and Premier, Inc., San Diego, have signed a dual source agreement under which Dade Behring will offer instrument systems for hemostatis to Premier's 1,800 member hospitals and other health-care organizations nationwide. The company holds previous contracts with Premier for hemostatis reagents and controls. In September, the company announced the addition of its PFA-100 analyzer to the agreement. Under the new contract, Dade Behring will supply hemostatis analyzers in addition to its Sysmex hemostatis systems that the company markets through an alliance with the Sysmex Corporation of Japan. Hemostatis testing measure the ability of patients' blood to clot or dissolve clots. It is used to both diagnose disorders and to monitor patients on drug therapy.
