SAQQARA e-catalog products attracting notice - Brief Article

Health Industry Today, May, 2001

SAQQARA Systems Inc. has come a long way in a short period of time by attracting the attention of medical industry giants with its software applications and services for B2B e-commerce.

The Silicon Valley firm says its health care client list includes, among others, Agilent Technologies, BD (Becton Dickinson), Fujitsu, Tyco, General Electric and Penton.

SAQQARA was founded in 1995 to commercialize catalog management and publishing systems originally developed with AMP, Inc. (now part of Tyco Electronics). It has since developed strategic partnerships with Internet and software providers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Vignette, Commerce One and Ariba.

The firm's products include ContentWorks, a software application designed to automate the process of converting existing product data into e-commence enabled product content, and Commerce Suite, an integrated suite of e-commerce applications including guided selling and procurement platform integration.

SAQQARA says Cornerstone, a program containing ContentWorks and Commerce Suite, will enable company e-commerce without the need for additional IT resources.

The firm is privately held. Since February 2000 it has secured $42 million in Series B and Series C funding, and in May 2000 was named to Upside's "Hot 100 Private Companies" list.
