Architectural Review, The, May, 2000
Spectrum 2000, the annual furniture and design fair, will be taking place 17-20 May in the Commonwealth Institute on Kensington High Street. With the release of the whole top level of the Commonwealth Galleries, the event will be the largest yet, including 20 new companies and bringing the number of exhibitors up to 130. As in previous years, the AR will be giving an Award for Excellence to the product new to the UK and judged the most worthy by an eminent panel of judges, including Rick Mather of Rick Mather Architects, Perry King of King and Miranda, Dinah Casson of Casson Mann and Penny McGuire, AR's senior editor.
This year, the restaurant will be designed by Gregor Seegor for Vitra. It will be furnished with a new polypropylene version of the classic Eames Plastic (EPS) chairs from the Vitra Standards collection, and Ron Arad's Tom Vat chairs, which are now available with a powder-coated finish and can be used outside. The exhibition will be open from Wednesday to Friday 10am-9pm, and on Staurday 10am-6pm whena there will be a children's club for visiting families.
