Judging has just taken place for this year's ar+d award, which attracted 700 entries from all over the world

Architectural Review, The, Nov, 2000 by Peter Davey

The annual award is supported by The Architectural Review and d-line, the distinguished Danish ironmongery company. Intended to hail unrecognized talent, the award is open to all architects and designers aged 45 or less, and it is offered for constructed work of any kind: buildings, products, landscapes, bridges and urban interventions. The standard was, if possible, even higher than last year so the international jury (Odile Decq, Christoph Ingenhoven, Erick van Egeraat, Adalberto Dias, Will Bruder and Peter Davey) had great difficulty in making and agreeing on their final choices.

In the end, it was decided to divide the [pound]10 000 prize money equally between three winning schemes, one from Bolivia and two from Japan. Another 12 entries were singled out for high commendation. The winners were announced at a ceremony in the Danish Design Centre, Copenhagen on 26 October: an exhibition of winning and commended designs, with many other entries, runs there until 29 November. A similar exhibition will be mounted at the RIBA in London to run from 1 to 21 December.

The awards are the subject of next month's special issue of the AR. Until then some details may be found on our website www.arplusd.com
