> Urban-Loritz-Platz, a busy, formerly unattractive square in Vienna, has been transformed by a Skyspan membrane roof, designed by architect Silja Tillner. The roof creates a sheltered space for bus and tram passengers; waiting rooms, sales kiosks and indicator panels are also housed beneath it. A series of tubular steel barrel vaults supported on tubular columns provides the support structure for translucent white PVC polyester membrane skins and glass panels.
