Chicago Architecture Foundation - Brief Article

Architectural Review, The, June, 2001

The Royal Institute of British Architects may have bought the www.architecture.com url but www.architecture.org belongs to the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

It's devoted to advancing public interest and education in architecture and design. And it's very impressive. Instead of running the occasional little self-important exhibition it has set up a series of tourist tours. In July there are never fewer than three architecture tours every day and at the weekends nine. Tours are about everything: Carson Pine & Scott, FLW, Modern Skyscrapers, Historic Skyscrapers, Lakefront by Bike, that kind of thing. It has two shops, 400 volunteers, and it runs lectures, events and a programme of not so little exhibitions. For architectural tourists to the US, Chicago is a must and so too this excellent site.
