Kirkstone Quarries - Brief Article

Architectural Review, The, Oct, 2001

The unique green tones of Kirkstone slate, quarried in the Lake District, England, are well known. It also differs from other slates in that it is composed of volcanic ash, rather than shale. The subtle natural markings of Sea Green slate are used to form treads and risers to a staircase at the Fountain Centre, Belfast.
