Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens re-opened last year after two years of redevelopment work. All emergency escapes are fitted with Dorma TL door units, in emergency exit green. In emergency, occupants activate the large illuminated red emergency push button, which is protected with a shatterproof plastic cover to avoid accidental operation. Units are fitted with a key switch to allow authorized staff to interrupt the current and release the overhead locking device without triggering an alarm. The units also enable security staff to monitor the device when it is activated.
