Schott - Specifier's Information
Architectural Review, The, August, 2003
Glass fibre-optic lighting from SCHOTT has been used to light the gigantic spherical centrepiece in Volkswagen's new factory visitors' centre in Dresden, Germany. Standing 12m high, the sphere constantly changes colour with 240 light scources illuminating 640 individual light panels. As part of a concept to turn the factory into an interactive information centre and meeting place, the sphere dominates the entrance foyer, which also houses a multimedia centre providing information about the latest trends in art, culture, and business--a concept that SCHOTT was able to help realize.
