Outraged by outrage - Letters - Letter to the Editor

Architectural Review, The, Nov, 2003

SIR: Your bitter 'P. D.' was not allowed to expand on why, in his view, the Selfridges department store at Birmingham is an 'Outrage'. I would have expected from a writer with his powerful knowledge of epithets to explain this more convincingly, as so far, the rest of the architectural press had totally different views on this building.

We are used to agreeing with most of your 'outrage' cases. Here I think was badly missed your checking of what goes out in print, the building is not a 'passe blob' and so far is very successful with the young people, who I hope will be there to witness for us its success in the future.

Yours etc
