504 CASTALDI

Sosia, the classic range of industrial light fittings, popularized by architects such as Richard Rogers and Massimiliano Fuksas, has recently been developed to include a range of finely satined opal diffusers. These now give users opportunities to choose between a soft diffused light, or the more intense direct light typical of the original aluminium reflector range.

508 FABBIAN

Kobra is a new laser-cut aluminium table lamp by Fabbian. Within an articulated head, Kobra uses only three LEDs to provide over 100 000 hours of reading light, equivalent to 11 years of uninterrupted use. The fitting benefits from a metal core printed circuit board, which eliminates the need for wires by printing the circuit directly onto the aluminium support arm. The LEDs are then welded directly onto a support arm, adding to the simplicity and lightness of this elegant new lamp.

509 ANSORG

At the base of Bonn's recently completed Post Office Tower--(Murphy/Jahn, AR August 2003)--1500 Ansorg Lichtpunkt LED light fittings have been used to create an exciting landscape lighting installation. Set within perforated stainless-steel sheets, seven shifting parallelograms create an apparently random field of light at the foot of the tower, 160m below Ansorg's prominent LED display set within the building's structural crown. Benefiting from a fully integrated design process. Parisian lighting designer Yann Kersale has been able to provide lighting spectacles for both users and more distant viewers.
