Designer appeal
Architectural Review, The, March, 2004 by Matthew Partington
SIR: I am researching the architecture and interior design of London coffee bars of the 1950s. A central part of my research is to make contact with (and hopefully interview) people who were associated with the bars--either as owners, designers, architects, employees or customers.
I am particularly keen to contact the designers who were responsible for the interiors. I am aware that a number of these people are no longer alive but there are some about whom I have been able to find nothing. One of these is Geoffrey A. Crockett FRIBA who designed bars such as La Ronde (Baker Strect), Negresco (Brook Street), Sarabia (Onslow Crescent), Pinnochio (Frith Street), and the Moka-Ris (Dean Street). I would be delighted if any of your readers could tell me anything at all about Mr Crockett.
