Takehiko Nagakura's rendering of the interior of the unbuilt Danteum by Giuseppe Terragni and Pietro Lingeri, a still from one of Nagakura's short films about mythical structures. The drawing illustrates the intention of the architects of the late 1930s building to give a progression from Hell, through Purgatory to Paradise. One of the many provoking illustrations in Fantasy Architecture, Hayward Gallery, London, 2004, [pounds sterling]16.95, the catalogue of an exhibition that is travelling in England outside London. Perceptive essays by Neil Bingham, Clare Carolin, Peter Cook and Rob Wilson illuminate projects from the eighteenth century to today.
