LS Group

LS Group, one of Europe's largest high performance door and doorset producers, has published a technical guide to help designers make informed choices and achieve compliance with regulations and standards when designing with doors. The RIBA-CPD assessed guide 'Designing with Doors and Doorsets' is structured as a companion to the Building Regulations with easily accessible information summarizing the impact of each Part on the doors. Additional sections deal with performance characteristics not included in Building Regulations such as security, strength and durability.

Md Hollow Metal Doors have a variety of applications, besides fire resistance. The Bullet Resistant Doors combine an armoured steel layer within the standard door construction. Options include doors with vision panels of bullet resistant glass. They are made from high performance materials certified to meet UL 752 standards for safety and ANSI/UL 1980 to various classes. Also available: airtight, gastight, watertight doors and more. The door and frame assemblies can be tested to achieve specific requirements of air tightness, water infiltration or gas tightness through the use of add-on seals.

Formica

Formica has announced the launch of Formica[R] Design a Laminate Competition 2005. This competition builds on the success of the previous Design a Laminate Competition, launched in October 2003 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Formica laminate, which received more than 1100 entries. Entries should be made in one of four specific design categories: avant-garde, contemporary, retro and organic. The overall winner will receive a Power Mac G5 and have the design included in the Formica Digital range, receiving a royalty on its sales.

Aquila

London Borough of Southwark has been using lighting companies to provide exterior lighting columns, lanterns and street furniture as part of an urban regeneration project costing [pounds sterling]2.4m. Aquila Design produced a new Irma Sealsafe[R] lantern specifically for this project. The lantern uses a 100 Watt high pressure sodium lamp with a 1289 reflector and an integral control gear. The combination allows excellent photometric properties to be achieved. Local independent artist Tom Philips, created the design for the scheme. In total 42 lantems were installed.

John Sydney

UK's largest family run and owned hotel group has undertaken a major refurbishment project at its four star Runnymede Hotel and Spa at Egham, Surrey, John Sydney was selected and specified to supply Elite, contemporary bathroom brassware design for the luxurious ensuite bathrooms. The design company Indesign Ltd handled the project under the direction of Paul Faulkner who chose the cross-head Elite design for its compatibility with the overall style of the refurbishment. The competitive price and superior service clinched the deal.

Beyon Beam desking, supplied by Wagstaff Office Interiors, was used to accommodate all merged teams and answer the brief for the environment, to continue the spaciousness created by the architecture of the office building.
