A bunch of icons

Architectural Review, The, Feb, 2007 by Sutherland Lyall

And talking of icon architecture take a look at Emporis Buildings at http://buildings.emporis.com. Since more than 700 people in our and related trades including architects and real estate agents are contributors, maybe you know it already.

Emporis is a real estate research company and this platform 'is the world's largest publicly available database on architectural and building data'. I can't vouch for this but that's the claim. I got into it via a promise of the world's tallest building but the site also has 'famous', 'other' and under construction buildings on its search list. You choose a city and go hunting. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to set up such a site but ours is not to wonder why. I couldn't fault its selection of famous London buildings although the under construction was a tad out of date. Cheekiest building name is The Icon, a 67m housing high-rise currently building on London's Millharbour. Not an address for the publicity-shy.
