William Mack pledges $10m to health system
Real Estate Weekly, Oct 31, 2001
William L. Mack, president and senior managing partner of the Mack Organization, has pledged $10 million to the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Foundation's New Century Campaign, foundation president Ralph A. Nappi announced.
The three-year campaign will fund capital improvements and establish a permanent endowment to further accelerate service and program expansions at the nation's third largest not-for-profit health system.
"This leadership gift to the New Century Campaign is a show of faith that the health system can face the future with the facilities and programs it needs to practice medicine in the 21st century," said Nappi. "The health system is grateful for Mr. Mack's continued dedication, commitment, and desire to maintain an outstanding institution for future generations."
Mack has had a life-long relationship with the health system. As past chairman of the board of trustees of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, he successfully navigated the Medical Center during the late 1980s to keep pace with medical advancements and capital improvements. His philosophy is that state-of-the-art facilities enable physicians, researchers, and educators to deliver more advanced patient programs, promising medical investigation and quality medical education.
Mack and the Mack family have been generous supporters of the health system for more than a half century. William Mack's father, H. Bert Mack, was a founding benefactor of the Long Island Jewish Hospital in the late 1940s.
