Legal dispute over house settled by sahn & ward

Real Estate Weekly, Nov 7, 2001

The real estate law firm of Sahn & Ward is pleased to announce a settlement on a dispute regarding the A. Conger Goodyear house in Old Westbury that has all parties happy with the final outcome.

"Our clients had purchased the property in the Village of Old Westbury, which is very knowledgeable and protective of important architectural landmarks," said Michael H. Sahn, whose firm represented the Wheatley Custom Builders, LLC, owners and developers of the site.

The Village had never granted the building landmark status, and local preservationists had been unsuccessful in their attempts to have the building's status changed.

The Village had issued proper permits to demolish the building and the developer was ready to prepare the site for new construction.

"We were pleased to negotiate with an outside preservationist group that came forward at the last minute with a commitment to buy the house at a reasonable market value. Now The Village is please because the lawsuits are done, the local preservationists are happy because the house will be secured, and my client has received a fair price for his property," said Sahn. "It's a win-win for everyone."
