Re-development for Capuchin Friars in Garrison, New York

The Capuchin Franciscan Friars of the Province of St. Mary has selected two Tri-state area firms, Ward Real Estate Services and Basilica Construction Management Corporation, for the redevelopment of their 42 acre site in Garrison, New York.
This magnificent site, overlooking the Hudson River, and directly across from West Point Military Academy, has been owned by The Franciscan Friars since 1930. For over seventy years it has been home to the Chapel and Friary, and during that time has accommodated various religious activity groups. The new development will comprise a new building and the renovation of the existing buildings, adding over 60,000 sq.ft. of living quarters for the Friars, and a new educational center for the Youth and Family Ministry. The finished site will include a large chapel, gymnasium, Friary; living quarters for the lay assistants of the Youth & Family Ministry programs, overnight accommodation for approximately eighty people and office space.
Ward Real Estate is providing design services and also project management services on the design development, schematic drawings, and budget and construction phases.
Basilica Construction Management Corporation who specialize in commercial construction with an expertise in religious facilities started construction Fall 2001. Kevin Ward, President of Ward Real Estate said, "Only a first class building which is architecturally compatible with its surroundings and erected by craftsmen concerned with the quality of their work would be appropriate for this site. It is an honor to have been selected for such a worthwhile project in such a magnificent setting."
