The sound of music on West 14th
Real Estate Weekly, Nov 26, 2003
The Guitar Center, the nation's largest retailer of musical instruments and accessories, has announced it will open a two-level, 30,000 s/f Manhattan flagship store on November 20 at 25 W. 14th St.
The retailer will join Urban Outfitters, Diesel, Forever 21, Whole Foods Market, Commerce Bank and Starbucks in this red-hot corridor.
"The Guitar Center substantiates everything this neighborhood has to offer," said Jeffrey D. Roseman, of Newmark New Spectrum Retail.
Roseman, along with his associate Paul Berkman represented the landlord, a joint venture of Mark Holdings LLC and Apollo Real Estate Advisors.
"The 14th Street Union Square neighborhood, with its 100,000 students from the neighboring colleges, its dense residential and commercial population and its top rated restaurants and nightlife, made this location a natural choice for the Guitar Center."
Roseman is marketing the remaining 8,200 s/f of ground floor space at the building.
Bruce Shepard, of E.M.B. Associates, represented the Southern California-based Guitar Center on its 120th location.
The Guitar Center currently operates nine locations in the tri-state area, including Queens, Westchester, Northern New Jersey and Connecticut.
