Cushman & Wakefield announced that a group of seven leading real estate brokers from Jones Lang Wootton have joined the firm's New York City offices. John Gray (photo), Peter Van Duyne and John Picco have joined as senior directors and together with Amarante, are based in C&W's Midtown office.
Also joining in the Midtown move are long-time partners Richard Sykes (photo) and Patrick Gardner director. John Moxley joins the Downtown office as associate director. "This move clearly demonstrates Cushman & Wakefield's ability, to attract the best and brightest to its ranks," said Thomas P. Falus, president, Cushman & Wakefield of New York, Inc. "This group comprises some of the finest real estate professionals in New York and we are certain they will flourish at Cushman & Wakefield." John Gray and Peter Van Duyne (photo) previously served as senior vice presidents at Jones Lang Wootton USA. Partners for the last 17 years, the duo have specialized in corporate relocations and lease transactions in excess of five million square feet, primarily in New York City and the suburban markets. Gray began his career at Charles Mackall & Co., where he worked from 1979 through 1995 and last held the title of executive vice president. He earned a BA in History and Economics from Hobart College in 1979 and is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
Prior to JLW, Van Duyne spent 10 years at Charles Mackall and Co., specializing in landlord and tenant representation throughout the New York area. He earned a BS in Economics from Lehigh University and is a member of the Real Estate of New York.
John Picco (photo) previously served as senior vice president in the New York office of JLW USA, a position he assumed in 1996. During his 22-year real estate career, Picco is credited with completing transactions for several million square feet of space in the New York area.
At JLW, Picco conducted tenant and landlord representation assignments in Manhattan and the suburban markets. His client list includes IBM Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Time Warner Cable, the Travelers, Winterthur Swiss Reinsurance Company, Garban, LLC and Transamerica Corporation.
Previously, Picco was senior managing director for Edward S. Gordon Company in White Plains, NY, covering the Westchester/Fairfield markets. There, he played a key role in the sale of 2000 Purchase Street, the former N.A. Headquarters of IBM in Purchase, New York to the MasterCard Corporation. This was the largest sale concluded in Westchester during 1994 and he was honored with the firm's "Top Broker of the Year" award for Westchester/Fairfield Counties. Previously, he served as executive vice president at Kenneth D. Laub & Company, Inc. in New York.
Picco received a BBA in Real Estate from Pace University and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison for undergraduate studies.
Richard Sykes and Patrick Gardner III (photo), who have been partners for the last 15 years, previously served as senior vice presidents at JLW. Sykes devoted his career to specializing in international real estate. During his 30 years of experience, he has represented multi-national corporations throughout North America, Europe, South America and Africa. In 1983 he relocated to the U.S. to set up a commercial leasing division in New York for Richard Ellis, a firm with whom he was associated for 16 years. In 1985 he formed his own business in New York committed to tenant representation to major corporations throughout America.
The firm merged with Jones Lang Wootton in 1997. His professional activities have involved corporations such as Allied Irish Bank, British Petroleum, Clifford Chance and Dell Computers. In 1985 he was elected a director of the British American Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve as chairman of a number of committees and as their real estate consultant.
Gardner has 16 years of experience as a commercial real estate broker representing prominent international and national corporations, during which time he is credited with completing transactions for several million square feet of space in the NY area. With a masters degree in International Management, he has a thorough understanding of the uniqueness of major corporations.
John Moxley (photo) previously served as a senior vice president of Jones Lang Wootton, specializing in tenant and landlord representation. He began his real estate career in 1984 and has been involved in local, national and international leasing transactions in excess of a million square feet and he has been responsible for over 5 million square feet of building agencies in the New York area. Select tenants represented include: Waterhouse Securities, AG Edwards & Sons, American International Group (AIG), and Siemens Corp.
Moxley received a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1981 and has completed graduate work at the NYU Real Estate Institute. He began his career at Coldwell Banker Commercial, where he worked from 1984 through 1988. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
