The New York University Real Estate Institute announced that James D. Kuhn has been appointed as the chairman of its advisory board.
Previously, Kuhn served as the board's vice chairman. He has been an adjunct professor at the Real Estate Institute from 1978 to 1993 and has been one of the people responsible for originating the Institute's masters program. Currently, Kuhn serves as president of Newmark & Company.
The Schultz Organization/TCN Worldwide announced the appointment of Richard J. Ciallella as property manager. In his new position, Ciallella will be responsible for the management of office and industrial properties.
Ciallella has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, including financing, space planning, leasing, property management, and construction management. Prior to joining the Schultz Organization, he served as a property manager at Trammell Crow Company. While there, Ciallella managed a 3 million SF office and industrial portfolio.
Ciallella is a graduate of The College of New Jersey. He is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, the Industrial and Office Real Estate Brokers Association, and the Somerset Chamber of Commerce. Ciallella currently resides in Hillsborough, N.J.
NAI/James E. Hanson, Inc. announced the appointment of Anthony Azzariti as sales associates.
Previously, Azzariti served as a project manager at CMGI. He specializes in providing consulting and transactional services to retail clients.
Azzariti is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He resides in Englewood, N.J.
Rockwood Realty Associates, LLC announced the appointment of Jeffrey Katz as an analyst in the firm's New York office. In his new position, Katz will be responsible for valuation services and analysis of real estate investments.
Prior to Joining Rockwood Realty, Katz served as a senior financial analyst in the acquisition group of Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. While there, he provided valuation analyses for acquisition and disposition transactions.
Katz holds a B.S. in real estate finance from Indiana University.
Meringoff Properties, Inc. announced that Kristin a Newman has joined the firm as assistant vice president of its leasing department. In her new position, Newman will be handling the exclusive agency for 6 E. 32nd St. in New York City.
Previously, Newman served as a tenant representative at Newmark Real Estate. She is a member of Men and Women's Real Estate Association.
Newman holds a B.A. from Roanoke College.
The Lefrak Organization announced that Richard N. Papert has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer. In his new position, Papert will supervise all financial functions and investment activities of the firm, including mortgage financing, treasury, and hedge fund portfolios.
Prior to joining the Lefrak Organization as vice president of acquisitions and finance in 1992, Papert served as vice president in the real estate department of Goldman, Sachs & Co., Inc. While there, he was responsible for acquisition transactions, sales, and financings.
Papert holds a B.A. in economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Ashforth Warburg announced that Jackie Maksian joined the firm's Uptown Manhattan office as a sales associate.
Maksian has more than 10 years of sales experience.
She is an active volunteer for the New York Chapter of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and the Hamptons International Film Festival.
Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. announced that Philip F. Russo has been promoted to director of media relations. In his new position, Russo will be responsible for maintaining media relations, organizing special client events, and creating publicity for the firm's brokerage and e-commerce operations.
Previously, Russo served as director of public relations for the New York metropolitan area. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, he was a chief spokesperson in the public affairs division of the New York City Board of Education.
Russo holds a B.A. in communications from Fordham University.
The Institute of Real Estate Management announced that John C. Santora, of Cushman & Wakefield, has been named the "New York Certified Property Manager of the Year." Santora was chosen for the honor because of his "outstanding reputation for excellence and integrity."
Currently, Santora handles global coordination of Cushman & Wakefield's asset services operations. He is a member of the firm's board of directors, a member of its global management committee, and a member of the board of directors of its business integration group. Among Santora's clients are such firms as Chase, Prudential, Citigroup, and MetLife.
In addition to his responsibilities at Cushman & Wakefield, Santora serves as chairman of the REBNY management committee and director of the realty advisory board of IREM. He also actively participates in Building Owners and Managers Association's national advisory council.
