PB, Weidlinger from alliance
Real Estate Weekly, Dec 12, 2001
Parsons Brinekerhoff and Weidlinger Associates, Inc. have formed an alliance to provide blast analysis and counter-terrorism mitigation services for public transportation systems, airports, bridges, buildings and other infrastructure.
The alliance of PB, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, and Weidlinger Associates, a structural and civil engineering firm with capabilities in applied science and blast analysis, will offer comprehensive services to safeguard infrastructure and buildings from terrorist attacks. The PB/Weidlinger team has the ability to assess a facility's vulnerability to terrorist attack, analyze the possible damage from explosions and other impacts, and develop recommendations to make the facility more secure.
The alliance melds the experiences and skills of two firms with long and distinguished histories. Founded in 1885, PB provides comprehensive program management, engineering, construction management, and operations and maintenance services for all types of infrastructure.
PB is currently providing engineering and technical services to the U.S. Department of Defense's Center for National Response, which is using an abandoned highway tunnel in Standard, West Virginia to provide counter-terrorism training for federal, state, and local first responders.
PB is also working to provide security enhancements for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
