Insignia Douglas Elliman raises $400,00 by canceling Xmas party

Real Estate Weekly, Jan 2, 2002

Insignia Douglas Elliman, the real estate firm, said the New York-based company and its affiliates have raised over $400,000 for The Twins Tower Fund for survivors of the Sept. 11 disaster. "Insignia Douglas Elliman contributed to this fund by deciding not to hold our annual company-wide Christmas party this year in New York, usually a lavish event that we decided was not appropriate for this year," said Paul Purcell, president.

"Instead, the money we would have spent on the party was combined with funding from other companies making up Insignia Financial Group, our parent, for the joint contribution of $400,000."

Purcell referred to a message he sent to Insignia Douglas Elliman brokers and employees commenting on how Sept. 11 "re-defined the way we chose to look at this particular holiday season . . . You may all be very proud to know that you have, through your company, played a part in helping those victimized by these senseless attacks."
