Houlihan/Lawrence sponsors fundraiser for new hospital
Real Estate Weekly, Jan 12, 2005
Houlihan/Lawrence is sponsoring "Girls' Night Out," a fundraiser for the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center being held at the Doral Arrowwood Resort in Purchase, N.Y. on Friday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The event, which includes cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and dessert, will feature stand-up comedy by Alonzo Bodden, the winner of NBC-TV's "Last Comic Standing" show. "Girls' Night Out" is expected to draw more than 400 women from Westchester and Fairfield counties, as well as New York City.
"This is a cause that is close to all our hearts here at Houlihan/ Lawrence," said Stephen Meyers, president of Houlihan/Lawrence.
"We are a company of more than 800 women, many of whom are mothers or grandmothers of young children."
" It's very rewarding to be involved in helping to raise funds for this hospital, which is dedicated to providing for the health and well-being of all children in our area."
The new Maria Fareri Children's Hospital cares for the area's most critically ill and injured children. The Hospital is named for Maria Fareri, 13, who tragically died in 1995. After Maria's death, her parents Brenda and John Fareri learned that Westchester Medical Center was developing plans for a new children's hospital. Ironically, an assignment Maria had recently completed in school expressed her wish "for the health and well-being of all children in the world."
The Fareri's then decided to act on Maria's wish and raise funds to support the construction of a worldclass children's hospital. Funds raised at the "Girls' Night Out" event will support the programs and services of the hospital, which opened in September 2004. Tickets are $90 per person.
