Century 21 completes distribution center expansion

Century 21 Construction of Clifton, NJ has completed a 70,000 square-foot expansion of Slier Distributing Company's distribution center in Totowa, NJ, announced. Joseph Marino, president. The expanded facility, for which Century 21 Construction served as construction manager and general contractor more than doubles the facility's capacity and serves as the central hub for Sher's national book distribution and services company.

Slier Distributing supplies books to non-bookstore retailers throughout the country. The company currently supplies 11,000 retail locations and employs a service staff of 4,000 people to facilitate its high-turn distributing business.

"Century 21 Construction was selected for this assignment based on their knowledge of state-of-the-art distribution facilities," noted Peter Sher, vice president. "This new facility ties in with our existing 50,000 square-foot building, offering 24- to 27-foot clearance suitable for our business."

Century 21 Construction is a full-service construction company specializing in construction management and general contracting assignments, including construction and renovations consisting of medical, office, industrial, retail, residential, education and municipal facilities.

Century 21 Construction recently served as construction manager and general contractor for a number prestigious assignments. These include the 108,000 square-foot renovation of the St. Barnabas Health Care System's Corporate Headquarters in West Orange, NJ; the 170,000 square-foot corporate headquarters expansion and renovation of Cerberus Pyrotronics in Florham Park, NJ; 820,000 square feet of industrial space for ProLogis Trust at Cranbury Business Park in Cranbury, NJ; a 260-student residence hall/dining pavilion at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ; a 65,000 square-foot Shop-Rite in Palisades Park, NJ; and a 214-unit luxury apartment complex in Westwood, NJ.

Public projects in New Jersey have included serving as construction manager of Riverfront Stadium in Newark; the historic restoration and renovation of the Essex County Courthouse in Newark; the construction of the Jersey City State office building and garage in Jersey City; the North Brunswick Government Complex; the Somerset County Administration Building in Somerville; the expansion and renovation of the Passaic County Juvenile Detention Center in Haledon; the construction of the Passaic County Police Academy in Wayne; and the nine-story renovation of Union County College in Elizabeth.
