Winstar provides advanced telecommunications services to Taylor Simpson properties in 7 states

Real Estate Weekly, Jan 5, 2000

Winstar Communications, Inc. and The Taylor Simpson Group, a privately-held real estate investment trust (REIT) based in New York City, recently announced an agreement under which Winstar will provide advanced high-speed communications capabilities to 23 additional Taylor Simpson buildings in New York, Atlanta, Miami, Minneapolis, Detroit, Dallas and Tampa.

The agreement extends an existing relationship between The Taylor Simpson Group and Winstar, bringing the total number of buildings serviced to 41, and the total number of HUB sites to four. Two of the 23 new buildings have been designated as Winstar HUB sites, providing state-of-the-art broadband services to both Taylor-Simpson properties and other major office facilities located in the vicinity of the HUB buildings. Winstar is offering its fixed wire-less broadband communications services, including high-speed Internet and data, Web-based information and local and long distance services, to Taylor Simpson's commercial tenants.

"In order to effectively compete in the real estate market, we must provide our tenants with a broadband infrastructure that enables high-speed Internet access as well as data and voice services," said Laurance Kaufman, an asset manager with The Taylor Simpson Group.

"Winstar gives property managers the necessary technology to market their buildings as buildings," said Richard Uhl, president of Winstar for Buildings. "Advanced communications capabilities are a highly-desired and attractive amenity that improves visibility in a competitive market-place." Winstar works with commercial building owners and managers to provide tenants with a range of state-of-the-art telecommunications services through its national broadband network. Buildings can be quickly connected to Winstar's fixed wireless network, giving tenants swift access to a wider choice of providers for local and long distance phone service, Internet, video conferencing, data applications and other advanced telecommunications and data services.
