Co-op/Condo Expo 2000 to be the biggest ever
Real Estate Weekly, Jan 12, 2000
Although The Cooperator's Co-op & Condo Expo 2000 on February 29th at the New York Hilton is still two months away, early pre-registration inquiries are being answered at reception, 110 booths have already been reserved by real estate and related industry companies - with only two booths remaining on the first floor - and a second floor has been leased to accommodate another 52 exhibitors, as well as space for additional seminars, reports Yale Robbins, publisher of The Cooperator, the monthly publication that produces the event.
"I believe that this unprecedented response begins with savvy apartment owners who are taking advantage of the healthy economy by making improvements in their buildings, and this is the best place for them to learn about new products and services," said Robbins. "And the industry is gearing up to show them just what is out there for the new millennium. The fact that we have had to lease another floor at this early date in order to accommodate more exhibitors is certainly an indication of how positive every one feels about the current market, as well as the integral part that The Cooperator plays within the co-op and condo community."
Last year's expo, also held at The New York Hilton, was attended by over 3,000 board members, apartment owners, industry professionals and prospective buyers. AS with previous expos, this upcoming event is open to the public at no charge and continues to feature a series of seminars, including an all-day continuing education course for real estate brokers held by The New York Real Estate Institute and based upon The Cooperator's book "Co-op & Condo Ownership." Additional seminars being offered this year include "How to Buy a Co-op or Condo," "Overseeing Professionals: Checks & Balances," "Hazardous Materials in Your Building: New Legislation on Asbestos," and "Understanding Underlying Mortgages."
Moreover, the 2000 edition of "The Official Directory of Co-op & Condo Services" will be distributed for free at the Cooperator's booth. This annually published directory features listings of thousands of companies that serve the co-op and condo community.
The day's events will be capped off with an industry cocktail party where the publishers will honor the Co-op & Condo Community's Man of the Year and present the coveted Leadership in Management Awards to firms that have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Award-winners will be announced in early February.
Admission to the Expo and seminars, is free, but pre-registration is required, and may be done by calling (800) 355-3755 or registering online at www.coexpo.com.
