Construction underway at new riverfront park in Irvington
Real Estate Weekly, Jan 19, 2000
Construction has started on a new 12-acre waterfront park overlooking the Hudson River in Irvington, NY. The project is being built on the site of a former lumber yard, requiring remediation of contaminated soils.
The contractor for the $6.2 million project is Thalle Construction Co. of Briarcliff Manor, NY. The ark was designed by Vollmer Associates with almost 1,700 feet of Hudson River shoreline, offering spectacular views of the river, the Tappan Zee Bridge and the Palisades.
The new park will give residents of Irvington and Westchester County additional river access not currently available. The park will include several ballfields, a senior citizens center, an esplanade, a non-motorized boat launch ramp, and parking facilities. Additional recreational features may be added at a later date.
Construction of the park is scheduled for completion in spring 2001.
