Garrick-Aug Worldwide named agent for Chelsea Gardens

Real Estate Weekly, Feb 5, 2003

The leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, vice chairman and Joseph A. Aquino, managing director of Garrick-Aug Worldwide, Ltd. have been named exclusive agent for the multiple store location at 255 West 23rd St., also know as the Chelsea Gardens, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, on the northside. There are approximately 600-3,000 SF, ground level, plus basement/storage. The frontage is approximately 60 linear feet.

"In many ways Chelsea resembles Greenwich Village, which is just a few blocks farther downtown," begins Consolo. "A largely residential area -- some of the town houses date back to the time of Clement Moore, who originally developed this part of Manhattan."

"Moore is world famous as the author of the poem, 'A Visit from St. Nicholas.' The residents of Chelsea are, for the most part, successful, with families, from every walk of life. Many are attracted to the area for the same reason they are the Village -- it has an edge. Because, for generations before bohemia discovered Greenwich Village, there was Chelsea. Chelsea was, and still is, home to many in the arts -- painters, writers, actors, singers. In the past decade, there has been a steady transfer of major art galleries from other parts of the city to Chelsea."
