Cedar Lighthouse rules - Transcripts - US Lighthouse Society

Real Estate Weekly, Feb 18, 2004

Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate announced a partnership with the Long Island Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society to raise funds for the restoration project of the Cedar Island Lighthouse at Cedar Point Park in East Hampton, the maritime gateway to Sag Harbor.

A silent auction and poster contest for the Cedar Island Lighthouse will be held at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate office at 138 Main St. in Sag Harbor on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Silke Griemsmann, of Prudential Douglas Elliman, said, "The lighthouse site dates back to 1839 and is in danger of disappearing forever due to its extensive physical deterioration.

"Prudential Douglas Elliman has always been heavily involved within the community and felt an important milestone was realized when the lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings in September of 2002. Partnering within the fundraising effort was a great way for us to do our part."

In cooperation with local school districts, the first "You Light Up My Life" program was held on Feb. 7 with students from the East Hampton High School District. The students created art about "Lighthouses." Their artwork will be auctioned off to benefit the restoration project. The artwork was displayed in the Prudential office.
