MBA to hold annual conference
Real Estate Weekly, Feb 9, 2000
With under three months to go until the 17th Annual Regional Conference of Mortgage Bankers Associations, mortgage industry professionals are showing a strong vote of confidence in the annual event. Current registrations for the 2000 conference are exceeding last year's numbers for this time period. The Conference, which will be held March 12th to 17th at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ, "will attract a record number of exhibitors and attendees," according to E. Robert Levy, executive director of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New Jersey. The Regional Conference had over 2,500 attendees in 1999 and is sponsored by MBA's from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The Income Property Program is slated for March 12 to 14, with the Residential Program following from March 14 to 17.
"As we proceed into the new millennium," said Levy, "we are finding that the mortgage industry, like many other industries, is strongly impacted by new technology, particularly the Internet." This trend will be reflected at the Regional Conference with topical panels on Internet originations and e-commerce, and the impact of technology on the cost of operations." Other topics of interest to mortgage industry professionals, including HUD enforcement, mortgage fraud, and developments in fair lending, predatory lending and mortgage broker compensation, will be covered in-depth.
This year's list of speakers will include Lawrence Kudlow, the renowned CNBC economist; Leland C. Brendsel, chairman and CEO of Freddie Mac; Jamie S, Gorelick, vice chair of Fannie Mae; Dennis Francis, CEO of Principal Capital Management; and Dr. Charles Petty, the noted lecturer and humorist.
