Imagine New York issues final report
Real Estate Weekly, Feb 12, 2003
Comments from 5,240 website respondents about the nine new plans for the World Trade Center site, along with 300 people's discussions at public workshops, have been analyzed and summarized in the final report of Imagine New York II - The People's Response. Imagine New York II, a project of the Municipal Art Society, is the second phase of Imagine New York a campaign to give voice to the people's visions for rebuilding the World Trade Center site that began almost one year ago.
"The huge outpouring of reactions to the nine plans on the website mirrored much of what we heard from participants at our public workshops earlier this month," said Holly Leichet, director of Imagine New York.
The MAS joined with NYl News and Gotham Gazette to solicit the opinions at the Imagine New York website (www.imagineny.org). Online participants were given the opportunity to review each of the nine places in person or online and to respond online whether they liked/disliked a plan, to identify the elements they liked/disliked, and to make suggestions for improving the plans.
These web responses have been appended to the comments garnered from Imagine New York II facilitated workshops held on Jan. 8 and 9. This preliminary report was released on Jan.13 and presented at the LMDC public hearing that evening.
