RSA sets 2002 town meeting schedule

Real Estate Weekly, Feb 20, 2002

The Rent Stabilization Association of New York City, Inc. has announced its schedule of town meetings for 2002.

The initiative is a series of town hall-style meetings sponsored by RSA for the owners of rent stabilized apartment dwellings in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx. The meetings are exclusive and free to members of RSA, which represents 25,000 property owners of the city's. 1.1 million rent stabilized apartments.

"We bring our experts into the community, which makes this a unique opportunity for our members. These town meetings are always well-attended because our members can take the valuable information we provide and apply it to the daily operation of their business," said RSA president Joseph Strasburg.

"The town hall-style setting offers our members, especially owners of small properties, the chance to discuss issues and share information in an open forum. These meetings also help RSA more effectively serve the needs of members," Strasburg added.

At this year's scheduled town meetings, participants will receive updates on several important industry issues - including property and liability insurance, and existing rent stabilization laws and regulations. Some other issues certain to find their way to the forefront are lead paint and window guard laws. A Q&A session will follow the more formal part of the meeting. RSA's town meetings are scheduled as follows:

* Bronx: March 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Gino's Cafe Restaurant (817 Allerton Ave., corner of Boston Post Rd).

* Brooklyn: March 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Bay Ridge Manor (476 76th St., between 4th & 5th Aves.).

* Manhattan: April 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Women's National Republican Club (3 West 51st St., comer of Fifth Ave.).

* Queens: April 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunnyside Community Services (43-31 39th St., at Queens Blvd.)
