Real Estate Weekly, Feb 20, 2002
The Starlight Children's Foundation of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will honor Eric Hadar of Allied Partners, Inc. and David Burris of Brown Harris Stevens and SwigBurris Equities at their 17th Annual Gala benefit to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on March 7. Starlight is honoring both Hadar and Burris for their dedicated interest and support of the Foundation.
The Starlight Children's Foundation of NY*NJ*CT is dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Over 200,000 children are touched annually by Starlight through various programs, which include inhospital entertainment (Hospital Party & Clown Programs; Fun Centers; Starlight Room), Wish Granting, outpatient activities (Kid Activity Network), and funding to hospital pediatric programs (Hospital Grant Program). Starlight is supported exclusively by private funds.
"I am thrilled to be honored by the Starlight Children's Foundation," said Hadar. 'The foundation has enhanced the lives of countless children and their families through a variety of innovative programs throughout the Tri-State area. I look forward to continuing to support the unique and wonderful programs of the Foundation."
"I feel honored to be recognized by the Foundation on this special night," said Burns. "Starlight provides outstanding support to thousands of children, and through its many programs, brings a great amount of happiness to the children and the families it serves."
More than 600 guests are expected to attend the event. Fundraising efforts for the Gala are expected to meet and surpass last year's event that raised $1.5 million dollars for the foundation.
Burns is an owner and co-chairman of Brown Harris Stevens, one of the largest residential real estate firms in New York City. He is also an owner of Terra Holdings a Manhattan based company that, in addition to Brown Harris Stevens, owns and operates Halstead Property Company, Halstead/Feathered Nest and Vanderbilt Holdings. Burris also serves as a principal of SwigBurris Equities, LLC, an investment and development firm.
Hadar co-founded and currently heads Allied Partners, a private real estate investment and finance company. Over the past seven years, the company has acquired over $1.2 billion worth of properties and has funded over $200 million worth of real estate loans. Last year, it acquired the 1.65 million square foot Citigroup Center in midtown Manhattan in partnership with Boston Properties. He is also an owner and co-chairman of Terra Holdings.
