Bathroom pods adding to project efficiency

Real Estate Weekly, March 26, 2008

Kullman, the leading worldwide provider of permanent steel and concrete modular multi-story buildings and modular bathrooms, announced that it has been retained by Linbeck Construction to build 178 Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) "Bathroom Pods" for Rice University's new student residence buildings.

The six-foot by eight-foot GRP Bathroom Pods, built in Kullman's 180,000 s/f factory in New Jersey, will have an outer shell constructed entirely of glass reinforced plastic (very similar to fiberglass) and are connected to a steel based frame.

The interior of the Bathroom Pods includes all-white wall hung plumbing fixtures, ceiling and wall finishes and light fixtures.

The completed bathroom pods are delivered to the project site, hoisted and set in place; final plumbing and electrical connections are then made. "Kullman's GRP Bathroom Pods, built offsite, add tremendous efficiency to the building process," says Avi Telyas, owner and CEO of Kullman.

Kullman plans to begin building the pods in April 2008, and complete installation of all 178 pods by July 2008.
