75 Broad St. the site of student visions for the World Trade Center

Real Estate Weekly, March 5, 2003

JEMB Realty and the owners of 75 Broad St. are proud to host Children Imaging the Future, Student Visions of the World Trade Center Site, an exhibit featuring scale model of student designs for redeveloping the site. The exhibit opened to the public on Feb. 6 and ran through Feb. 28, simultaneous to the LMDC New Outreach Campaign, in the lobby of 75 Broad St. in Manhattan.

The featured student teams are from two public schools--Junior High School 56 on Henry Street in lower Manhattan, which was temporarily closed after Sept. 11, and The Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, Queens. The students created scale plans, including massing and site models, from the realistic guidelines of the in-depth architectural "program" developed by their architect/educators from the non-profit Salvadori Center.

At the exhibit's opening, attendees were addressed by. such prominent New York City figures as Thomas S. Johnson of The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and The Lower Manhattan Family Advisory Council, Frank Lombardi of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Rose P. Molinelli, president of the New York City Middle Schools Principals Association and Robert Selsam, chairman of the board of the Salvadori Center and senior vice president of Boston Properties. These speakers praised the thoughtfulness of the ideas for developing the site and commended the students on the outstanding vision, dedication and spirit they demonstrated in designing these projects. Their thoughts were shared by building owners, Raymond Chain and Joseph Jerome who offered a joint comment, "We are delighted to house this exhibit, to give a venue for the powerful vision and important dreams New York City's children have for the future of our City and Downtown."

75 Broadway is a 33-story office tower owned by 75 Broad Street LLC and JEMB Realty, who offered the use of its building lobby to the Salvadori Center so that the student works could be put on view to the general public through the end of the month.
