Downtown Alliance launches new Web site

Real Estate Weekly, March 20, 2002

Those searching for complete, up-to-date information on all aspects of living, visiting or doing business in post-Sept. 11 Lower Manhattan have a new online resource: www.DowntownNY.com.

Launched by the Downtown Alliance, the Web site is the only comprehensive information source of its kind with details on mass transit, residential opportunities, cultural happenings, retail stores and hotels.

The Web site, originally scheduled to be launched on Sept. 15, 2001, was delayed as the Downtown Alliance reoriented the site to provide a single source for all possible information on Lower Manhattan following the terrorist attacks.

"This Web site will be continually updated to provide a powerful tool for residents, businesses, property owners, visitors and media seeking information on Downtown," said Carl Weisbrod, president of the Downtown Alliance.

The new DowntownNY.com provides a wealth of information about the man Downtown Alliance services and initiatives from public safety to streetscape to surveys -- but that's just the beginning. This new site was carefully designed to provide essential news and helpful hints on what's open, how to get there and what to do in Lower Manhattan.

There are updates on the rebuilding process and the incentives that are in place to expedite Downtown's recovery. The site is also equipped with a searchable database to provide helpful links to key Downtown destinations and activities -- everything from locksmiths to landmarks, post offices to Irish pubs. Additional information resources featured on the site include the childcare directory, Streetscape plan, survey on the Technology Business Exchange (t/bex), retail report, residential report and the Downtown Alliance newsletter.
