MANAR Courses
March 6, 13, 20 - The Manhattan Association of REALTORS[R] and the NYS Commercial Association of REALTORS[R] are offering three introductory level continuing education courses for the residential broker who wishes to learn the basics of Commercial Real Estate. Each course provides 7.5 hours of CE Credit and may be taken individually or as a series. The courses are March 6 - Introduction to Commercial Real Estate Tools of the Trade; March 13 - Introduction to Commercial & Investment Real Estate: Concepts and Terms and March 20 Commercial Calculations The classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the offices of Manhattan Mortgage, 555 Madison Ave. (at 56th Street), 14th floor. Tuition for REALTOR[R] members is $100 for one day, $175 for two days and $225 for all three days. Tuition for nonmembers is $135, $250 and $300, respectively. The instructor is Edward S. Smith Jr. who has over 25 years experience in Commercial and Investment Real Estate Brokerage. CityBar Center Seminar
March 19 -- The CityBar Center for Continuing Legal Education will hold a seminar, entitled "The Clean Water Act: The Law That Works?," from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Eileen D. March 16 to 21 -- The Mortgage Bankers Association will hold its 20th anniversary regional conference. The event will include general sessions with top industry speakers and exhibits. Appraisal Institute Course
March 11 to Apr. 15 -- The Long Island Chapter of the Appraisal Institute will offer a continuing education course, entitled "Appraisal Procedures," on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The course will review the valuation process and discuss appraisal mathematics, cost approach, and income capitalization approach. The classes will take place at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, at 720 Northern Boulevard in Brookville, N.Y. Tuition: $400 per person. Building Congress Breakfast
March 21 - The Honorable Gifford Miller, Speaker of the New York City Council, will be the guest speaker at a Construction Industry Breakfast Forum, sponsored by the New York Building Congress Inc., beginning with a reception at 8 a.m., and followed by breakfast and program at 8:30 a.m., at Club 101, located at 101 Park Ave. (corner of 40th Street). CMAA Dinner
March 25 - The Construction Management Association of America, Metro NY/NJ Chapter, CMAA, will hold a dinner meeting at the Manhattan Club, 201 West 52nd St. at Seventh Avenue. The program discussion will be the plans to involved in New York City hosting the 2012 Olympics. The guest speakers will be Brenda Levin, director of community relations and Nancy Yanofsky, director of development for NYC2O 12.
