Schonbraun McCann Group (SMG) announced that Mark S. Halpern, JD, CPA, and Charles L. Friedman, JD, have been named principals to the firm's Private Client Tax & Advisory Services practice. Prior to joining SMG, Halpern was a director at J.H. Cohn in New York. He also has held positions at Deloitte Haskins and Sells, U.S.

Trust Company of New York and Berdon LLP. He earned a JD from New York Law School and a BS from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. Friedman has advised owners of closely held businesses, family offices and high-net-worth individuals in minimizing their tax liabilities while developing strategies to achieve their business and personal objectives. Prior to joining SMG, Friedman developed and implemented estate and financial planning strategies for a regional CPA firm. He earned a JD from New York Law School and a BBA from Baruch College.
