Energy leaders recognized with ENYA award

David F. Bomke, executive director of the New York Energy Consumers Council, Inc. announced that the Third Annual Energy New York Awards (ENYA) recognized leaders in the energy community of New York and Westchester County.
This year's event was held at the Emigrant Bank Sea Level Cafe at 6 East 43rd Street in New York City.
The recipients of the 2007 Energy New York Award were John J. Gilbert, III, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Rudin Management Company, Inc., and New York University.
Gilbert currently serves as chairman of the New York Building Congress Energy Committee and has done so with distinction for the past five years. His leadership has made an outstanding contribution to New York's energy community.
New York University was recognized for its initiation of a broad, campus-wide sustainability initiative called the NYU Green Action Plan (GAP), which included key elements such as the largest purchase of wind power by any U.S. college or university and the creation of a university-wide task force on sustainability.
Other nominees recognized at the ENYA event included Brian Schwagerl of The Hearst Tower, Michael Sanfilippo of Great Forest, Eric Moscahlaidis of Krinos Foods, Inc. and Peter Davis of Waterside Plaza.
The NYECC is recognizes the critical need for vision, long-term planning, and prudent capital investment in the energy infrastructure that supports New York's economic engine. The individuals and organizations honored at this year's ENYA ceremony have demonstrated exceptional qualities of vision, innovation, and leadership in strengthening energy reliability and economic competitiveness. Each of the honorees has contributed in different ways to assist in the Council's mission to provide value to large energy consumer in New York City and Westchester County.
