Department of Finance

Real Estate Weekly, March 29, 2000 by Lois Weiss

Any minute the Department of Finance web site at www.nyclink.org/financec will enable owners to obtain certain information and print out some statements for their properties over the web. Once a property profile is entered, the owner or user won't ever have to enter the numbers again, either.

Annual real estate tax bills, replacement real estate tax bills, property tax payment histories, SCRIE status and water bills can then be easily printed without making a trip to the Finance offices.

Additionally, tentative and final assessments will be available without the user registering, just as it is now to callers who use a block and lot number through the interactive taxpayer assistance phone lines at (718) 935-9500.

The data is protected by Secured Socket Layers which encrypts the files both coming and going. Commissioner Andrew Eristoff advises this data is for informational purposes only, and is not "real time" access to the FAIRTAX system on property ownership and taxes owed.
