IREM donates to WTC fund

Real Estate Weekly, April 10, 2002

The Greater New York Chapter of the Institute Management recently donated $9,000 to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund. Chapter president and R.Y. Management vice president Teresa Tota, CPM(R) and former IREM regional president and senior vice president of First Sterling Financial Michael Martino, CPM(R) traveled to Albany to present a check to New York's Governor George E. Pataki in the historic "red room" in the capitol building. IREM donated the net proceeds from their Annual Dinner that was held in November 2001.

Commented Tota, "Like all Americans, our members were deeply saddened and shocked by the events of Sept. 11. As real estate professionals; many of our members were responsible for the management of both residential and commercial properties located close to ground zero, including several properties in Battery Park City. The re-tenanting and restoration of these properties posed the single greatest challenge most property managers will ever face. We are thankful and proud of all the heroes who came forward on Sept. 11. But we are also proud of our property managers, without whom, many residents and office workers would not have been able to return to their normal lives as quickly as they did."
