Cafe nabs Columbus spot
Real Estate Weekly, May 7, 2008
Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph A. Aquino, executive vice president, of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Leasing and Sales Division, exclusive agents for the block front of retail stores at the intersection of Broadway and Central Park South, directly across from the Shops at Columbus Circle, announced that AQ Kafe, a division of the famed Aquavit restaurant, will open a new outpost at 1800 Broadway.
Following the team's campaign, just one retail spot remains along the landmarked corridor: a 3,000 s/f location at the corner of Broadway and 58th Street.
AQ Kafe currently operates a midtown location on Park Avenue and is well known for its contemporary Scandinavian dishes. Its new location will boast a 2,000 s/f ground level and 1,000 s/f basement, within a multistore complex that has been restored to postwar grandeur.
Consolo and Aquino have helped secure prominent retailers for the complex, including Optique and neighborhood favorite Columbus Wine.
"We are thrilled to be playing a major role in enriching the retail landscape that links Times Square and the Upper West Side," said Consolo. "Constantly welcoming new additions, this neighborhood has evolved into a mecca for shoppers and diners."
