Fifth Avenue Jewelry store project shines

Real Estate Weekly, May 7, 2008

IBEX Construction has completed work on the relocation of NIWAKA USA, Inc. from SOHO to a centrally located luxury shopping destination at 608 Fifth Avenue.

NIWAKA, an upscale jewelry store known exclusively for its popular wedding bands and engagement rings was founded in 1979 and owns 10 international retail stores including this New York City branch.

"This new Fifth Avenue store matches Niwaka's commitment to catering to a clientele with a high level of service, sophistication and quality," said Andy Frankl, chairman and CEO of IBEX Construction.

"IBEX Construction was selected as general contractor for the project because of our impressive roster of upscale, highly trafficked and diverse retail locations in Manhattan." A Designtex tempered glass facade gate with black bronze special coating adorns the store's exterior and welcomes customers. Inside, the company unveiled a new floor layout and design, including Moscone marble and Impala black granite flooring, interior walls consisting of Designtex Karachyo Rice Paper glass and graphic sheeting, premium grade maple millwork, and a custom staircase with unique paint finish to create a luxurious and inviting atmosphere.

Niwaka is the latest in a long list of high-end jewelry stores that have been built by IBEX Construction including Cartier, Fred Leighton and Buccellati.

New York-based architecture firm YTdesign designed the new 3,500 s/f Niwaka store.
