The Realty Advisory Board

Real Estate Weekly, April 19, 2000 by Lois Weiss

The Realty Advisory Board negotiations with Local 32b-32j will go down to the Passover wire, and there is still the spectre of a strike.

Both negotiating committees were to check into the Sheraton Hotel & Towers for expected round the clock bargaining on Monday, April 17th. But, there are many issues and the new union leadership has to put on a good fight for the members. The union pep rally last Wednesday resulted in one side of Park Avenue being shut down from 79th to 83rd Street. The well behaved workers - remember they work in your buildings - enjoyed bands and speeches.

Meanwhile, on the Left Coast, the Los Angeles strike, led by the parent Service Employees International Union, continues as the workers' strive to get $7 an hour. Here, the workers are already getting $16, and still asking for 10 percent per year raises for a three-year contract. Sign up for tours of duty and stay tuned.
