AJC honors Arthur Mirante with human relations award

Real Estate Weekly, April 25, 2001

The American Jewish Committee (AJC), the nation's oldest human relations agency, paid tribute to Arthur J. Mirante II, president and chief executive officer of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., at a dinner held in his honor at The New York Hilton Hotel. The event, chaired by Charles Kushner, President of Kushner Companies, drew more than 300 real estate and business leaders from around the country. Philip A. Laskawy, Chairman, Ernst & Young, presented Mirante with the AJC's National Human Relations Award, recognizing his many years of service to the community.

"Arthur is an imaginative business leader," Kushner told the audience. "He has risen to remarkable heights because he understands the need for a working partnership of business and society."

Laskawy added, "Arthur always has a smile on his face and is always caring about people. He is concerned about the means, not just the end."

Mirante assumed leadership of Cushman & Wakefield in 1984 and has guided the dramatic transformation of the 84-year-old firm from a regional brokerage company into a global multi-service real estate firm with 10,000 employees in 158 offices in 49 countries. Since joining Cushman & Wakefield in 1971, Mirante has also served as general counsel, national director of management services and New York Area regional director.
